I ♥ Faces - "Smirk" challenge

I haven't been submitting photos for challenges lately and I really missed it!  That being said I thought this week would be tough to find a good one for smirk, but I have 3 kids so I didn't have to look far.  This is my 11 year old and I had gotten a new lens and as always they were my models.  He definitely has a smirk on that sweet face of his....not sure what was he was thinking but it looks like he was up to something.

There are tons of great photos for this week's challenge, head over and check them out at iheartfaces.com...Enjoy!

I ♥ Faces -"Over my head" week

This week's theme at I heart faces is "over my head".  The kids have had a blast jumping off the dock this summer and it really seemed to fit the theme in more ways than one!

I ♥ Faces - "Pets" week

This week's theme is pets and we have tons of traditional critters in our house to choose from, but something about this picture caught my eye.  My parents purchased baby chicks and ducks for my kids for Easter and they all fell in love with them.  But this little duck, almost every time I looked in their box, would just stare at me and pose, it was the sweetest little guy.  He wasn't this small for long and my kids were amazed to see just how fast he grew.  Eventually he was named Ferdinand and was the noisiest duck in the bunch and always the head bird.

I ♥ Faces - "All About Babies" week

This was my first shoot with a 2 week old and he was very cooperative for me. (beginner's luck!)  We had so much fun trying different poses but his mom loved this shot and got this one in a large print.  She said she wouldn't trade it for anything.  He was just happy laying in his mom's hand and dreaming away.  This week's theme is absolutely my favorite......I ♥ Babies!!

I ♥ Faces - Play

My daughter and her best bud enjoying a slippery waterslide.  Although I think she wasn't too sure about being squirted from the look on her little face, they both had a blast.  I love summer......it truly is the best time for play!
Be sure to check out I heart faces and some of the awesome entries for this week's challenge.

June 1 - I ♥ Faces "Barefoot" week

The Challenge for this week on I Heart Faces was "Barefoot" and I knew exactly what I wanted to capture.  While this appears to be a photo of my daughter's foot with her toenails all painted and her tutu around her waist, it is so much more than that.  My daughter was diagnosed with Spina Bifida when I was 18 weeks into my pregnancy and seeing her walk was definitely something I never thought I'd see.  Now she is 18 months old and walking everywhere and we couldn't be more blessed!  Join in and donate your old shoes to Soles 4 Shoes and head on over to I Heart Faces to check out this week's entries for Barefoot week!

Photographic memories

I have always loved photography, it's in my blood! My best memories growing up are from looking at hundreds of photos that my grand daddy had taken and had made into slides. He would take out the projector and set up his screen in their den and we'd sit and watch images of their vacations or silly pictures he had taken of us and of course the ever famous bird and flower pictures! He always had a camera. We used to giggle at some of them but now I just remember being so amazed at what he had captured and I never got tired of looking at them. (I still love looking at his photos) I always loved looking at books filled with photos too...sure reading was okay but the pictures were way more interesting. I was always the one holding the camera when I got older and getting in everyone's faces trying to capture every little memory I could. Once my kids were born it became so much more important to me to freeze every little moment because I never wanted to forget a thing. Every milestone or event my kids are involved in, I'm the mom with the camera!

Now that I'm a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids, something that used to be a hobby has slowly but surely turned into more for me, but I've always been a little afraid to jump in with both feet. So I decided it was time to learn more and try everything I could to get better at what I love. Which is ultimately why I chose the name for the blog. I'm constantly my worst critic and I will always want to learn more about the art of photography. There is inspiration everywhere you look and learning to use your camera to translate it for the rest of the world is such an awesome challenge so sign me up!!
